Blossom has always been about more than the clothes themselves.
Behind every piece is the idea that something as simple as a few words can become a reminder- of your strength, of who you are, or of the people who believe in you when you need it most.
For our Blossom empowerment shoot, I wanted to capture that feeling in a way that went beyond traditional product photography.
I went into the day hoping to capture what Blossom looked like.
I came away feeling like we had captured what Blossom feels like.
Bringing the Blossom Community Together
The shoot brought together a group of women who each had their own connection to Blossom.
Some had known each other for years. Some had worked together before. Others were meeting for the very first time that morning.
There was the usual nervous energy at the beginning of a shoot- figuring out where to stand, getting comfortable in front of the camera and wondering what the day would be like.
But it didn’t last very long.
Conversations started. People laughed. Everyone encouraged one another between shots.
And before long, it became difficult to tell who had walked into the room as old friends and who had only just met.
That was one of my favourite things about the whole day.
Because underneath the clothing, photographs and content we were there to create, there was something else happening naturally: connection.
More Than a Photoshoot
Of course, we wanted to create beautiful imagery for Blossom and showcase the pieces from The Original Collection.
But some of my favourite moments happened when nobody was thinking about the final photograph.
Someone would forget what they were supposed to be doing and everyone would laugh.
A conversation would carry on while the next shot was being set up.
Someone would compliment another person or help them feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
There were hugs, ridiculous moments, conversations and plenty of laughter.
None of it needed to be manufactured.
And somehow, those moments ended up representing Blossom better than anything I could have planned.
Where the Meaning Began
Blossom started with something very personal to me.
Growing up, my dad always called me Blossom. Along with that nickname came the feeling of having someone who believed in me- sometimes more than I believed in myself.
That feeling eventually became the foundation of the brand.
I wanted to create clothing that could carry a little of that encouragement forward. Pieces that you genuinely wanted to wear, but that also held a reminder within them.
At the heart of Blossom are the words:
Kind Heart. Strong Mind. Fierce Soul.
They’re the words you’ll find throughout The Original Collection, but their meaning has never been about one particular definition of strength.
Because strength looks different on everybody.
Sometimes it’s confidence.
Sometimes it’s resilience.
Sometimes it’s trying something that scares you.
And sometimes it’s simply getting through a day that felt harder than it should have.
Confidence Doesn’t Have to Look Perfect
One thing the shoot reminded me of is that confidence isn’t something you either have or you don’t.
Some of the women felt completely at home in front of the camera.
Others felt nervous.
Some needed a little encouragement before a shot. Others were the ones giving that encouragement.
And as the day went on, everybody relaxed.
That, to me, felt far more representative of real confidence than trying to make every photograph look perfectly composed.
It can grow when you feel comfortable.
It can come from the people around you.
And sometimes it appears once you stop worrying quite so much about whether you look confident in the first place.
Blossom has never been about becoming some perfect, fearless version of yourself.
It’s about remembering that you can be unsure, still growing and still completely worthy of believing in yourself.
The Moments Between the Photographs
We had professional photography and video being created throughout the day, but some of the clips I loved most were the ones captured casually on phones.
The little moments in between.
People laughing when they thought the camera wasn’t really on them.
Hugs.
Behind-the-scenes conversations.
Everyone crowded together watching something back.
Those clips weren’t perfectly staged, and that was exactly why they mattered.
They captured something that a polished campaign image sometimes can’t: how the day actually felt.
Warm.
Supportive.
A little chaotic.
And very real.
What the Shoot Taught Me About Blossom
When I started Blossom, the story behind it was incredibly personal.
But I’ve realised that I don’t want the brand to remain only about my story.
The meaning might have started with me and my dad, but what Blossom becomes belongs to the people who wear it too.
The friend who reminds you of your worth when you've forgotten it yourself.
The woman who celebrates another woman without comparison.
The people who make you feel more comfortable being exactly who you are.
The encouragement we give each other without always realising how much it matters.
Watching a room of women, some close friends and some complete strangers at the beginning of the day, become so comfortable with one another made that feel particularly real.
Blossom is clothing with meaning.
But I hope it can also become something built around connection, encouragement and community.
